Cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet ﷺ. The first child to embrace Islam. Slept in the Prophet’s bed during Hijra so the assassins would think the Prophet was still there. 2:207 is understood by scholars to reference his sacrifice that night: ‘And of the people is he who sells himself, seeking means to the approval of Allah.’ Surah Al-Insan (76:8-9) is understood to reference him and his family feeding the poor three nights in a row despite their own hunger.
