The descendants of Yaqub (Israel), given immense blessings: prophets, scripture, miracles, liberation from Pharaoh, the split sea, provision of manna and quail, forgiveness of the golden calf. Yet they repeatedly broke their covenant, asked to see Allah directly, worshipped the golden calf, killed their prophets, altered their scriptures, and violated the Sabbath. The Quran addresses them extensively — both to remind them of their blessings and to warn them of their transgressions. The pattern: blessing → ingratitude → punishment → repentance → blessing — repeated.
