Story — English
Father of Maryam, chosen by Allah among the families (3:33). His wife Hannah made a vow to dedicate her unborn child to Allah’s service — the child turned out to be a girl (Maryam), not the boy she expected. Hannah said: ‘The male is not like the female’ — acknowledging her surprise. Allah accepted the dedication and made Maryam among the greatest of people. Imran is the grandfather of Isa through Maryam.
